in the 1861 census Robert Pane is listed as Blacksmith Apprentice living in Cley Road Salthouse he is 51, with his wife Elizabeth Pane, his unmarried son James aged 18 (also an apprentice Blacksmith), and daughters : Sarah, Elizabeth, Eliza and Mary.
