The birthplace of Admiral Sir Christopher Myngs in 1652 when his mother's
family, the Parrs, owned it.
After
the Parrs, the Johnson family occupied the Manor for several generations. William
Johnson was the last of that family to live there. He fell in
love with, and married, a girl from the village - Sarah
Ann Pigott, and on his early death, she inherited the
Manor House which she left to her great niece
Henry High's daughter Ethel.
